I was flying my new broom through Buffalo on my way to Ontario today and just had to stop by to meet my spoiler Antonio! We had lunch and I got a few lessons on some muggle sock-knitting techniques (a cool little thing called "Magic Loop", but I swear there wasn't any magic going on), plus he helped me make something for my spoilee's kit (Andi, you will love it!)

I had fun and my little 12-yr-old cousin Lucifer Scrimshaw didn't complain too much. He sat near the window on his "laptop" (he likes to play with the muggle moving pictures they produce-he pushes the buttons and makes the pictures move...fascinating really).

Antonio, thanks again for the hospitality! Hope we can do it again soon!

My roommate Emma divulges her secret at last

My roommate Emma Dumbledore and I had a chance to chat today as she was feeling homesick. You know how Emma likes to observe the muggle holidays (apparently a muggle holiday called "4th of July" is coming up. Well duh, the 4th of July is coming, and so is the 1st, 2nd, etc. I don't get it). Anyway, Emma was feeling rather melancholy since she couldn't get home for this holiday, and I asked her once again about that famous last name of hers. She has finally revealed, after all this time, that she is Albus Dumbledore's gay lover's daughter! He gave her his last name though to protect her and give her a brighter future, as her real dad was a death eater and she was tortured as a little kid. Poor Emma. The outer scars have healed but the inner ones take longer. Keep your chin up Emma!

My super spoiler Antonio dela Weasley sent me a little "pre-kit" package today! His uncle Vincenzo magically dyes this wonderfully soft yarn...the muggles use it to knit with. Anyway, in a package of this yarn from Vincenzo's shop on Diagon Alley (where I can't help but shop) Antonio included a wee packet of goodies for me! Included were point protectors for small circulars, yarn needles, and a beautiful black and blue beaded item. Being a novice muggle-style knitter myself, I am not sure what this item is for. I did however send an owl of thanks to Antonio with an inquiry as to the use of this beautiful item. I will post his reply as soon as I get it! Thanks again Antonio!

1. What I was doing 10 years ago...

10 years ago I was getting ready to move to Los Angeles CA to work as a travel nurse for the first time so that my now ex-husband could pursue his dream. I was kicking butt in my Mary Kay business as well but was to soon find out that I couldn't handle both in a new place. My sons were 2 and 11. The 2-year-old came with us to California but my oldest son stayed behind with his dad in Erie. THAT sucked.

2. Five things on my to-do list today

Well since it's 8pm as I'm writing this I'll give you my to-do list for tomorrow:

1. Mary Kay facial with my friend Lori at 9:30
2. pick up rental roto-tiller at 2:30 so that I can have it for Sunday when my boyfriend can till my new vegetable garden
3. attend my now 12-year old's soccer game
4. go to Lowe's/Home Depot for supplies to make the raised vegetable bed
5. go to a movie or other fun thing with my son and boyfriend. Maybe we'll go see Kung Fu Panda!

3. Snacks I enjoy:

1. Newman's Own mint chocolate oreo-like cookies
2. nuts-almonds, cashews, macadamias
3. strawberry shortcake
4. fresh fruit
5. kettle chips and popcorn

4. Things I would do if I was a billionaire:

4. Build a house that uses no fossil fuels...i.e. with a geothermal heating/cooling system, green roof, solar panels, etc. It would also look like a log home or a castle. Not sure which. And it would have a huge vegetable garden!

Thanks to Miranda for researching that peculiar American holiday called "Memorial Day". I'll leave the muggle studies to her for now, as I'm still working on finding my way around here at Hogwarts! I get lost more often than I care to discuss. I have found some interesting hiding places, and have gotten Filch after me more than once.

Miranda and I are planning some surprises for Emma when she gets back. How dare she go off and leave in the middle of the term like that! But if she brings us back some good presents we might let her off easy. Miranda and I are keeping the details to ourselves for now, but she did say something about apple pie. Maybe it's a "Memorial Day" thing or something.

I have to say that I lucked out in the dorm assignment department. My roomies are Miranda Moonstone and Emma Dumbledore. They are nice, if not a bit strange at times. Miranda, dear thing, rambles on in her sleep about her missing (and assumed dead) parents. I suspect she realizes this during her waking hours but at nighttime she relives the terrifying tornado that lead to their presumed demise. Poor thing. As their bodies were never recovered, she imagines that they are both alive but suffering from amnesia and thereby don't know where to look for her. She has also been overcome by can't-knit-initis and has been searching for a counter spell, suspecting an as-yet-to-be-named HufflePuff as the culprit.

Emma, on the other hand, has been mum about her infamous last name. She simply will not divulge anything. This frustrates Miranda and I to no end, so of course we all suspect something juicy is up. Maybe we'll have to relieve some veratiserum from Professor Snape to get her talking...

Hello! I'm Agatha, a first-year Ravenclaw. I got to meet my cousin Lavender on the train and she's very nice. Though I'm not quite clear how she was a Ravenclaw last year and now is a Hufflepuff? Did the sorting hat make a mistake? Hmm. So much to learn here at Hogwarts! Anyway, Lavender is a distant cousin on our dads' sides of our respective families, though I'm not quite sure exactly how. Anyway, I'll proudly take her place in Ravenclaw, and just hope that the Sorting Hat got it right this time!
